
James K. Martin, Senior Associate
Jim was awarded his Juris Doctor from William Mitchell College of Law in 1989. He was a staff member of the William Mitchell Law Review in 1988. Jim earned his MS in Industrial Relations from Purdue University in 1985, and his BA from William Jewell College in Liberty, MO, in 1982. Jim is admitted to practice in U.S. Federal District Court and the District Courts of the State of Minnesota.
Jim has extensive experience in public sector employment and labor law gained through his seven years as Executive Director of Human Resources with the Bloomington, MN, Public Schools and five years as Director of Human Resources with the St. Louis Park, MN, Public Schools. Prior to his work in the schools, Jim represented public and private sector clients on a wide range of employment and labor law issues with a large Twin Cities firm. With Morrison Fenske & Sund, he focuses on all areas of employment and labor law including, employment contracts, collective bargaining, administration of collective bargaining agreements, employment handbooks, wage and hour law, discrimination, unemployment compensation, employee discipline, unfair labor practices, grievance arbitration, covenants not to compete, and the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act.
